Through the summer months, your AREA Advocacy team has been hard at work with a dedicated group of volunteers from across the Boards/Associations, participating in the Government of Alberta’s transition and implementation planning for the updated Real Estate Act. In the coming weeks, you will be hearing more about how you can get involved by running or voting in your relevant Industry Council(s). AREA CEO Brad Mitchell and CREB® CEO Alan Tennant, who is our representative on the government’s transition Steering Committee, will share more about what to expect as the updated Act comes into force.
Brad Mitchell assumed the role of CEO at the Alberta Real Estate Association in January 2018. Since that time, Brad has overseen the implementation of AREA’s 2018-2021 Strategic Plan, which has included further operational efficiencies and new programs, such as the growth of AREA Wireless and the launch of Pillar 9 in partnership with the local real estate boards. Brad has lead AREA in advocacy, building stronger relations with government, and establishing Alberta Government Liaison Days.
Alan Tennant has served as the President & CEO of the Calgary Real Estate Board since 2011. Alan has over 34 years of experience in real estate, serving in multiple leadership roles in the industry. Previously, as a 26 year career REALTOR® and former associate broker, he achieved recognition as a top producer at the local, national and international levels. Alan also serves as AREA's representative on the Government of Alberta’s transition Steering Committee.
