AREA Political Action Committee (APAC) – Call for New Members!

Posted on January 14, 2022 by AREA Communications in News

On behalf of the AREA Board, we invite you to apply for the AREA Political Action (APAC)!
New terms begin and end March 1 of each year. A member term is 2 years and members can serve on the board for up to 6 years by re-applying yearly to extend their term.

What Does APAC Do?
APAC guides and supports the AREA Government Relations function and Advocacy process. It is the key mechanism by which AREA members and boards can speak with one voice on provincial issues and legislation affecting Alberta REALTORS® and real estate consumers.

What is Required of APAC Members?
In your role as an APAC Member, you will have a front row seat to witness changes within the Alberta Government, the Regulator or organized real estate that impact AREA’s advocacy efforts. You’ll engage in advocacy-related discussions and advise and assist in the development of AREA positions on provincial real estate issues; evaluate the advancement of these positions; advise on PAC process and development; and participate in meetings with government and/or other key stakeholders as warranted.

The committee meets virtually or in person for approximately 8 meetings per year and members are encouraged to participate in keystone events such as, Calgary Stampede networking parties and AREA’s annual GL Days.

If you’d like to be a part of AREA Political Action Committee, please go to the link below to see positions available and how to apply! Interested members should apply no later than January 28, 2022.
