Wireless FAQs

AREA Wireless, powered by Rogers

Q: Who can join AREA Wireless?
AREA Wireless is available to REALTORS®? and unlicensed professionals working at real estate organizations and brokerages.

Q: I'm currently a Rogers Wireless customer. Can I join the plan?
Existing Rogers customers who own their mobile device outright or have less than 3 months remaining on a subsidized device contract can move over to AREA Wireless seamlessly.**
**Some conditions apply.

Contact AREAwireless@albertarealtor.ca for assistance.

Q: I'm currently on a plan with a non-Rogers provider. Can I join the plan?
Yes. Anyone can join AREA Wireless from another provider. Keep in mind you are responsible for any cancellation or unlocking fees related to leaving that provider. Consultation should be done to determine what those charges may be.

Contact AREAwireless@albertarealtor.ca for assistance.

Q: What does "Shared data pool" mean?
AREA Wireless is a cooperative program with a shared data pool based on 5 GB per user. Unused date is pooled for use by all plan users. The pool allows some flexibility in usage, however AREA Wireless asks all subscribers to be mindful of your data use. Responsible use helps to keep the cost of the plan low.

Charges for local data will be incurred when a user exceeds 15 GB of usage in a billing period. Usage over the 15 GB threshold will be charged at a rate of $25/GB.

Q: Can I keep my existing phone number?
Yes.

Q: Is there a contract component to the plan? Am I locked in for a certain amount of time?
There is no contract; the plan is month-to-month.

Q: How does Rogers coverage compare to other national carriers?
A: Rogers has the largest wireless network in the country. In Alberta, coverage is similar to other national carriers. Click here for Rogers’ coverage map.

Q: How do I get billed?
AREA Wireless users are billed on a monthly cycle, and are responsible for all charges incurred. All users must provide credit card information for billing purposes. To set up your billing, or view your current and past bills, visit https://myserve.co/users/sign_in.

All questions about your plan, including billing inquiries, should be submitted to AREAwireless@albertarealtor.ca or 1-855-783-1717, or through live chat on your AREA Wireless account portal. Rogers call centre staff will be unable to assist with your questions.

Q: How do I travel internationally with AREA Wireless?
AREA Wireless subscribers benefit from an automated tiered travel plan, activated once you use your phone internationally. More details about the tiered travel plan are available in the terms of service. You also have the option to add a travel package by visiting your AREA Wireless portal (https://myserve.co/users/sign_in) or contacting AREAwireless@albertarealtor.ca or 1-855-783-1717.

It is important to keep in mind that AREA Wireless and Rogers have no control over what third-party wireless services may charge in the country where roaming occurs. All users are responsible for adding the appropriate travel package to avoid unwanted costs.

Q: What devices are compatible with AREA Wireless?
Any device that is compatible with the Rogers network will work with AREA Wireless. This includes devices currently on the Rogers network, and most unlocked phones from Bell or Telus. If you are bringing your phone from another network, please contact AREA Wireless support (AREAwireless@albertarealtor.ca) or 1-855-783-1717 to ensure your device is compatible.

Q: Will my contacts / apps / other settings be retained in making the switch to AREA Wireless?
If you are retaining your existing device, the switch should not affect the software of your phone, with the exception of some carrier-specific apps that may no longer work. If you are bringing a new phone to the plan, please contact AREA Wireless support (AREAwireless@albertarealtor.ca) or 1-855-783-1717 to ensure continuity.
