COVID-19: Open Houses Resume

Posted on June 08, 2021 by AREA Communications in News

On June 10th, 2021, Alberta enters stage 2 of the Government’s Open for Summer plan and professional service providers, including real estate professionals, may resume walk-in services and open houses.

The following precautions must continue to be followed during stage 2:

  • Distancing should be maintained between cohorts and REALTORS®
  • Masking and sanitizing requirements remain in effect
  • Brokerages may open for walk-ins if the broker so chooses

Remember to maintain open lines of communication with your clients and discuss open house protocols in detail. Your client may continue to impose additional restrictions on showings or open houses, including limiting the number of people in the residence at one time. Only proceed with those open house protocols that have been approved by your client.

If your client would like to proceed with open houses but you, as a REALTOR®, are not comfortable hosting them, consider soliciting assistance from a peer in your brokerage who is comfortable with offering this service.

For detailed safety protocol information, as well as the details on Government’s re-launch approach, please visit the Open for Summer plan page.

Please direct any questions to communications@albertarealtor.ca.

Our membership work and live in Alberta, which we acknowledge as the traditional and ancestral lands of many peoples presently subject to Treaties 6, 7, and 8 – namely the Blackfoot Confederacy (Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika), the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney Nakoda and the Tsuu T’ina Nation, and the Métis People of Alberta. We recognize the many First Nations, Métis and Inuit who have cared for these lands for generations. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today, and those who have gone before. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those on whose territory we reside.
