AREA Compliance Regime Builder

FINTRAC Office Policy and Compliance Regime Builder

AREA's FINTRAC Office Policy and Compliance Regime Builder is an online tool to help brokers create a complete FINTRAC compliance regime as required by FINTRAC. It uses CREA’s template FINTRAC Compliance Regime Manual to help you build out your own brokerage policies and procedures, training program and plan, online risk assessment tools and more. The FINTRAC Office Policy and Compliance Regime Builder has been loaded to all brokers' AREA accounts and can be accessed by visiting www.albertarealtor.ca, and clicking ‘My Account’. It should appear in the standalone courses section of that window.

How does it work?

We’ve put the content of CREA’s template FINTRAC Compliance Regime into an online tool and divided it into smaller, more manageable sections so you can tackle one piece of your FINTRAC policies and procedures at a time. You will use the Builder to determine what brokerage policies you need to be FINTRAC compliant, and you will put these policies into CREA’s template Compliance Regime manual Word document (Available for download within the Builder). You may use the examples provided by CREA, but FINTRAC also requires you to include your brokerage-specific policies in the manual too.

Follow the content of the Builder section by section, stopping when directed to complete the policies in the manual Word document. The Builder will automatically save your progress so you can work on your own policies and procedures section by section or on your own schedule. You will need to manually save any changes you make to CREA’s template Compliance Regime manual Word document.

Included in the Builder is a workflow to help you complete your required brokerage risk assessments too. This risk assessment tool will also be available as a separate item on our website for future risk assessments required to be completed every 2 years.

The Builder also includes reference to ReallyTrusted’s compliance tools to show examples of policies that could be implemented should you choose to implement ReallyTrusted as part of your compliance program. You can learn more about ReallyTrusted and their FINTRAC compliance tools here.
